Time to Fly in France Time for a holiday? Or maybe it is time for some hard work in the summer sun to achieve a new flying goal. Lessons are possible at all levels from air experience to instrument flying so why not come to Moret, close to Paris for that extra edge to your flying training. Flying lessons and air experience flights are available in English or French. We are members and guest of the Aero-club Vallee Loing et Lunin. Standards are those applicable in France which should present no problems for British pilots. It isn't possible to be examined for the higher qualifications in aviation but it is possible to train for a license to be issued in the UK. There are English CAA approved examiners able to conduct PPL skill tests in France. Moret is a friendly club and the language on the ground and in the air is French. That shouldn't present a problem as there are relatively few things pilots say to each other in the circuit and they are all written down before hand anyway. Click here to access the club website. Accommodation 89 rue Montgermont 77690 Montigny sur Loing France +(33) 16445 8257 There are some more pictures of the accomodation at www.montigny.co.uk I propose B&B accomodation with me in Montigny, with other meals available by prior arangement. There are good restaurants within staggering distance and the dial in pizza is superb (cooked on an open wood fire). There are a full range of hotels at various prices locally in Fontainebleau. The Aigle-Noir is top notch and opposite the chateau, and the Ibis - well there is an Ibis. Click here for details. View Google Map to Montigny Travel Directions By RoadFrom the Carrefour de l'Obelisque in Fontainebleau take the D58 signposted Montigny-sur-Loing, Episy, Bourron-Marlotte After a little over a mile IGNORE the fork to the right signposted Montigny and continue straight on to Sorque. When you reach the village sign for Sorque turn immediately right into the route de Larchant. This is small meandering road through the forest. It becomes rue Orgiazzi at some point but just keep on to the crossroads. There is a signpost on the crossroads to Fontainebleau which you ignore. Turn left into rue Montgermont. No 89 is 150m down on the right. Big brown doors. The bell is on the left. By TrainThere are trains every hour of ever day to Moret and to Montigny from Paris Gare de Lyon. Montigny station is a ten minute walk from No 89. The airfield is five minutes in a car from either No 89 or from Moret station. By Air According to my Pooley-Delarge 2003 the airfield is 7nm on radial 187 from the VOR at Melun. The ident is MLN and the frequency is 113.6. The airfield is below the Paris TMA and closed on a Tuesday. Pilots will of course provide themselves with a complete briefing before flight. The runway at Moret is fairly short and if this is a problem for your craft I suggest Nangis or La Ferte Alais. What if it rains? I have a full set of teaching aids to cover the ground school for PPL and IMC ratings. La Ferte Alais and Le Bourget are within easy distance and will entertain any pilot. There are many and varied restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets. For those who wish to drink and walk home there are restaurants in the village and the station is nearby and there are restuarants at nearly all the stops on the line. The house is within 2 minutes walk of the largest foret in Europe. It boasts rock formations that are interesting to look at and climbers come to Fontainebleau to train. It is sandy ground, so boots are rarely required and the paths can be cycled throughout the year. There is a business renting canoes on the Loing, and after a gentle paddle they collected you downstream and take you back to your base. The area is famous for art and pottery. Barbizon can be reached by bike, Rosa Bonheur's studio at Thomery is worth a visit. If you cant find what you are looking for locally then Disney is about 45 minutes drive and Paris is the same time by train.
